Terms of Use
These Terms govern your use of WordAI, operated by awesome-bears, inc. (“Awesome Bears,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).
1. Acceptance and eligibility
By downloading, accessing, signing in to, registering for, or using WordAI, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the app. You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum digital-consent age where you live. If you are a minor, a parent or guardian must authorize your use where required.
If you obtained WordAI through Apple’s App Store, Apple’s applicable App Store terms and the Apple Standard EULA also apply. If they conflict with these Terms on a matter Apple controls, Apple’s terms control.
2. What WordAI provides
WordAI is a language-learning and reference tool that can provide definitions, parts of speech, examples, translations, linguistic analysis, pronunciation, saved word lists, offline dictionary packs, and an optional AI conversation about the term currently open. Some results are generated by artificial intelligence.
Offline dictionary packs are built from openly licensed sources, including Open English WordNet, ECDICT, and OpenCC; their attributions and licenses are listed in the app under Offline Dictionary. WordAI selects, normalizes, and formats this material for offline learning. Source-backed examples were translated into Simplified Chinese with Gemini on Google Cloud and converted with OpenCC for Traditional Chinese. The optional pronunciation pack was synthesized with Google Cloud Text-to-Speech. This automated content is a learning aid, not an authoritative legal, medical, or technical reference.
3. Accounts and access
A signed-in WordAI account is required. The international version uses available providers such as Apple or Google. On iOS devices whose system region is Mainland China, WordAI offers +86 mobile-number sign-in using an SMS verification code processed by Cloudflare and Alibaba Cloud Phone Number Verification Service. Standard carrier messaging or data charges may apply. Guest access is retired. When a legacy guest signs in, WordAI may use a short-lived, one-time migration receipt to merge saved favorites and custom word lists into the signed-in account; the source is deleted only after the transfer is verified. You are responsible for safeguarding your device and account access. Do not impersonate another person, share access in a way that defeats plan limits, or interfere with authentication and usage controls.
Features, provider availability, quotas, supported models, and limits may change to maintain reliability, safety, or cost controls. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access to any particular AI model or provider.
4. Official WordAI Cloud
WordAI now uses only the official WordAI Cloud service for online AI and speech features. The app does not accept personal model-provider keys and does not contain provider credentials or direct model-provider endpoints. Provider selection and fallback routing are controlled by our authenticated cloud functions.
Earlier versions could store a personal OpenAI API key in local app preferences. The current app removes those retired values from the device during upgrade and does not upload or use them. WordAI cannot revoke a key in a third-party account; if you previously used this feature and want to invalidate that key completely, revoke it in the original provider account.
International users may optionally connect a compatible AI assistant through WordAI OAuth. Review the assistant's requested permissions on the WordAI website or in the app; do not share a login code or token in a prompt. A prepared wordbook is only a draft until you edit and save it. You may disconnect an assistant at any time. Third-party assistant availability and handling of its own chat are governed by that provider's terms.
5. Acceptable use
You may use WordAI only lawfully and in accordance with provider policies. You may not:
- use the service to harm, harass, exploit, defraud, or violate the rights of others;
- submit content you lack the right to process;
- probe, bypass, disable, or abuse security, authentication, rate limits, or provider routing;
- introduce malware, disrupt the service, scrape it at abusive scale, or use automation that degrades service for others;
- misrepresent AI output as verified professional advice or use it where human review is legally required.
The term conversation uses automated safeguards intended to refuse requests for assistance that would violate applicable United States or Mainland China law, political-sensitive discussion, discriminatory advocacy or attacks, and other unsafe content. It may gently redirect unrelated questions to the open term. These safeguards are imperfect product controls, not a legal determination, and may refuse or allow content incorrectly.
6. Free access
WordAI is free and does not offer paid memberships, in-app purchases, or auto-renewing subscriptions. Cloud AI features remain subject to fair-use limits, service availability, and abuse prevention.
7. Your content, saved data, and our intellectual property
You retain rights you have in words, phrases, lists, and other material you submit. You give us only the permissions needed to process, transmit, store, synchronize, and display that material to operate and improve WordAI, protect the service, and meet legal obligations.
WordAI’s software, design, branding, original content, and compilation are owned by Awesome Bears or its licensors and protected by law. We grant you a personal, limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app for its intended purpose. Open-source components remain under their respective licenses.
8. Availability, updates, and termination
We may update, suspend, restrict, or discontinue features, including offline packs and third-party integrations. We may suspend or terminate access for a material or repeated violation, security threat, fraud, legal requirement, or service protection need. You may stop using WordAI at any time and can request account deletion from the app where available.
9. Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by law, WordAI is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, availability, or error-free operation. We do not control third-party providers and are not responsible for outages, policy changes, or content they supply. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so they may not apply to you.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Awesome Bears and its officers, employees, and suppliers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, loss of data, profits, goodwill, or business interruption arising from WordAI. Our aggregate liability for a claim will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid for WordAI during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim or US$50. This limitation does not apply where prohibited or to liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
11. Changes, disputes, and contact
We may revise these Terms. We will update the date above and provide additional notice in the app when a change materially affects your rights where required. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the revised Terms. Before filing a dispute, please contact us and allow a reasonable opportunity to resolve it. Applicable mandatory law and consumer-protection rights remain in force.
